Paul Bryant Boarman

Paul Bryant Boarman, 65, of La Crosse passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 in his home. He was born on September 14, 1955 in Evansville, IN to Norbert and Elizabeth (Greenwell) Boarman. Paul attended St. James Catholic School and Aquinas High School graduating in 1973. He then attended Viterbo College until he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in December of 1975. After boot camp he attended the Navy School of Music in Norfolk, VA and was assigned to the Third Marine Division Band in Okinawa, Japan. He returned to the United States in November of 1977 and married Kathy Italiano. Some of the places he served were Parris Island, SC, Camp Lejeune, NC and Albany, GA. He was an instructor at the Navy School of Music in Norfolk, VA. He finished his career as the enlisted band leader in Okinawa, Japan. He retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant in January 1996 and moved back to La Crosse where he became the conductor of the Da Capo Concert Band from September 1996 – April 2014. Paul and Kathy took over Pleasoning Gourmet Seasoning from Kathy’s parents, Frank and Lenore Italiano in 1998.

He is survived by his wife Kathy, a son Dominic (Brenen) Boarman, a daughter Jaime (Karl) Greenfield; grandchildren Raelyn Boarman, Gloria Greenfield, Bryant Boarman, Joseph Greenfield and Breanna Halling; siblings Eleanor (Jack) Neth, Doris (Ray) Hansert, Margaret Boarman, Mildred (Roger) Parmenter, Mary Jo Kaiser, Beverly Olson, Wayne Joseph Boarman, Jeanne Kelly and Reggie (Chris) Boarman. He was preceded in death by a grandson Dominick Halling and three brothers Victor “Sonny” Boarman, Ronald Boarman and David Boarman.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 4-6 PM on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Schumacher -Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. S. Facial coverings will be required and social distancing guidelines will be observed. Per Paul’s request please dress casually, i.e. “Packers” “Loggers” “Marine Corps” “Da Capo” or “Pleasoning”. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Da Capo Concert Band, P.O. Box 2701, La Crosse, WI   54602.
