Patricia S. Kleven

Patricia S. Kleven, 92, of La Crosse, passed away in her cherished home on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was born on January 18, 1931, in La Crosse, WI, to Iva Hammon and George Mercier. On November 11, 1950, she married James E. Kleven in Onalaska, WI. They were together for 23 years. Patricia worked at Benson Optical and later at The La Crosse Rubber Mills (La Crosse Footwear), from which she retired in 1998. Patricia loved tending to her beautiful flower gardens and cooking creations in the kitchen.

She is survived by her daughter, Gale Ann Kleven, and son-in-law, Nidal Saba of Farmersville, OH; four grandchildren, Gabriel Kleven of Carthage, NC, Steven Guest Jr. of Yankton, SD, Benjamin Guest of Kennebec, SD, and Donna Guest of Dayton, OH; and eleven great-grandchildren, Kori, Preston, Madison Gale, Makayla, Aspen, Loralei, Benjamin Jr., Madalian Iva, Julian, Mikaya, and Leila. Patricia is also survived by a beloved sister-in-law, Marian Mercier; many cherished nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews; beloved cousins, Lorraine and Byron (Jennifer) Krueger, Violet (Colman) Olson, and Marcella Rhyme; and beloved friends, Mary Young, Alice Benson, and Deborah Wyatt. She is also survived by a special niece, Kathryn Greb of Westminster, CO.

She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, James Kleven; mother, Iva Mercier; father, George Mercier; sister, Dianne Greb; brothers, George and Douglas Mercier; and cousins Virginia Hansen, Leona Mae Pal, Clarice Preston, and William, John, Frank, and Thomas Bagniefski.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 10th, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. So., La Crosse, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Rev. Joanne S. Richmond will officiate.  Burial will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.  An online guest book is available at www.schumacher-kish.com.
