Nicholas L. Saathoff

d. December 3, 2022

Nicholas Lindsay Saathoff, age 29, of Onalaska, WI., passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 3, 2022, at his home. Nicholas was born in Portland, Oregon but spent most of life in Wisconsin. He was a loving, wise and inspiring young man who changed for the better the lives of everyone he cared about. Nicholas is survived by his parents, Richard and Barbara Saathoff, his brother, Christopher Saathoff, and uncles, aunts and cousins.

Nicholas’ favorite place was our family home in Door County. There, he could swim with his brother and family, shoot off fireworks, have family campfires and be part of nature. He and his brother also embarked on late night golf-cart rides, video gaming and chopping epic amounts of wood.

Nicholas was passionate about reading, listening to podcasts and challenging himself to new ideas. He had deep insight and was never short on information-he could tell you something about almost anything. He also loved to cook and bake and would often bake endless amounts of treats for family, friends and co-workers. He also knew how to properly enjoy a frozen pizza.

Nicholas was a valued member of the Famous Dave’s BBQ team. He was an excellent cook and a mentor to many of his colleagues. They considered Nicholas to be like a brother to them.

Most of all, Nicholas loved his family as deeply as we love him. We will miss him greatly. He will be in our hearts forever.

We are honoring Nicholas’ memory privately at this time. We will have a celebration of life for him in the future and will notify family and friends. We suggest memorials be donated to NAMI La Crosse Vernon Inc. or the Coulee Recovery Center to help local families struggling with mental illness. Nicholas also had a love of animals, especially our pets, and a donation to the Coulee Region Humane Society would also honor his life.

We are so very thankful for the outpouring of love and support that we have received. We are forever grateful.
