Nelda J. Hengel

Nelda J. Hengel, 79 of La Crosse, died on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Gundersen Health System of La Crosse. She was born in La Crosse on July 28, 1938 to Emil and Ruby (McCune) Benson. She married Phillip R. Hengel and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2011.

Nelda is survived by one daughter Elaine (John) Dryer of Elk River, Minn., one son Phillip (Vickie) Hengel Jr. of La Crosse, four grandchildren; Heidi (Nicky) Nieling, Dan Hengel, Mark Dryer, Sara Dryer, two great grandchildren; Arlo and Everly Nieling, two sisters Linnea (Bob) Schieche of La Crosse, Jarda Parrish of La Crosse and her special friends Nancy and Bette. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister Roma and one brother Max.

Memorial services will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. South. Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family Saturday morning at the funeral home from 10am until the time of services.
