Nancy J. Olson

Nancy J. Olson, 86 of La Crescent, MN went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the Mayo Clinic Health Services in La Crosse. She was born January 15, 1938, in Duluth, MN to William and Edith (Larson) Larson and graduated from Denfeld High School in Duluth in 1956.

On May 5, 1961, she married Dale Olson at Elim Lutheran Church in Duluth. In 1971 the couple moved to La Crosse and later to La Crescent. Nancy enjoyed raising two sons, David and Robb, whom she loved climbing the bluffs and snowshoeing with. She loved her Lord and was affectionately known as a prayer warrior to her family and friends. Nancy had many other interests, including entertaining and hosting parties and fundraisers at her home. She was instrumental in founding the La Crescent Animal Shelter and enjoyed sending flowers to anyone she felt could use a cheerful bouquet.

In addition to her husband Dale, she is survived by a son, Robb (Kris) Olson of Cashton, WI; a daughter-in-law, Julie Olson of Green Bay; five grandchildren, Christopher (Cassiti) Olson, Caleb Olson, Joshua Olson, Desarae (Peter) Gargano and Robb (Chloe’) Olson, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Adalena Olson; along with many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, David Olson in 2020.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 18th at La Crescent Free Church, 1675 County Road 6, La Crescent with Pastor Dan Cravillion officiating. Burial will follow in Prince of Peace Cemetery, La Crescent. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 5-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to La Crescent Animal Shelter.
