Nan E. Baures

July 29, 1951 — December 3, 2023

Nan Esther Baures, age 72 of Holmen, has returned home to Jesus on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her home. She was born July 29, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Donald Palmer and Carolyn Gildersleeve (raised by Lois Palmer.)

She grew up in Golden Valley Minnesota and graduated from Golden Valley High School in 1969. She attended Winona State University earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. While at college she met her spouse Frank Baures and the two were married on May 26th, 1973 in Wayzata, Minnesota. They moved to Onalaska Wisconsin in 1984 where they spent the rest of their life raising their two daughters Andrea and Laura and making many new memories and friends. She worked as a dedicated nurse for 35+ years including many years in the Intensive Care Unit at Gundersen Lutheran, as a nurse at Biolife, and finally retiring from Mayo as a triage call nurse. She loved spending time with her family; especially time with her granddaughters at Granny Camp and seeing her grandsons during their visits for deer season. She looked forward to her monthly book club meetings with close friends. She used to say that her “happy” place was her condo in Florida where she got to collect shells and walk on the beach.

Nan is survived by her two daughters: Andrea (Jeremy) Stocke, Laura (Scott) Schinke. Her brothers Mark (Kathleen) Palmer, Donald (Jill) Palmer. Her grandchildren Dylan (17), Hannah (15), Luke (12) Stocke and Reagan (14), Isaiah (11) Schinke. Her niece and nephews.

Nan was preceded in death by her husband Frank Baures on April 18, 2019; parents Donald and Carolyn Palmer Jr; step-mother Lois Palmer; and sister in infancy Ann Palmer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 8, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main St., Onalaska. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Onalaska City Cemetery.
