Myrtle L. "Myrt" Wicklund

Myrtle “Myrt” Wicklund of La Crescent, MN, passed away on February 15, 2021. She was born on March 22, 1930 in La Crosse, WI to Emil and Myrtle (Overgard) Loeffler. She married Norlin Wicklund on June 11, 1960.

Myrt graduated from Central High School on January 29, 1948. She worked for Gateway Transportation from 1948 to 1961 when she started a career as a loving mother and grandmother. Myrt returned to work at Stender Insurance Agency for many years. She enjoyed bowling and was a life member of the La Crosse Women’s 600 Bowling Club. Her greatest passion was following the activities and successes of her grandchildren.

Myrt is survived by her son Todd and his sons Sam and Jack of Aurora, CO; her daughter Lisa Hunter of Liberty Lake, WA and her family Melissa (Jake) Schneider of Madison, WI, Katelyn (Joram) Smith of Shiloh, IL, and Austin (Samantha) Hunter of Chesterton, IN; and great grandchildren Aunika and Koen Smith and Emerson Hunter. She is also survived by twin-sister Marie Loeffler and sister Mae (Don) Roberts of La Crosse; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Myrt was preceded in death by her husband; her son Lon; her parents; sister Sandra; brothers Robert, LeRoy (Marianne), and Charles (Marian).

Private family entombment will take place in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse.
