Mildred "Millie" E. Miller

Mildred “Millie” (Taylor) Miller, 99 of West Salem, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Hillview Health Center. 

She was born March 6, 1925, to Ray and Eunice (Solberg) Taylor in La Crosse. She lived with her grandparents from the age of 4 until 19 and graduated from Logan High School in 1944. She married Eugene Miller on April 24, 1944, at Saint James the Less Catholic Church in La Crosse and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2006, after 62 years of marriage. They farmed in the Hokah and Brownsville areas for 15 years. They then lived in La Crescent until 1986 when they retired and moved to Apache Junction, AZ until 1993 when they moved to La Crosse.

Millie worked as a housekeeper for John and Rosemary Poellinger and Dr. Pat Murphy. In addition, she raised her four children: Robert, Jerry, Eunice and Roger.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; sons, Robert and Roger; her siblings, Ethel, Ray, Earl, Bill, George, June and Frank; son-in-law, Bob Clements and a great-great-grandson, Rocky Smith. 

She is survived by her son, Jerry (Sandy) Miller, her daughter, Eunice Clements her cat, Precious; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Millie enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and coloring in her senior books. She had much love in her heart and always loved receiving and giving hugs as well as calling family to sing happy birthday to them. She had such a great smile and will be missed by many.

Thank you to everyone who visited her at the hospital and Hillview. A special thank you to the staff at Hillview and the Hospice team from Gundersen Health Services for the care they provided Mom. 

 A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services 200 West Ave S, La Crosse, with a prayer service starting at 11:30 am.
