"Be still and know that I am God." - Psalms 46:10
Millie Fischer, 93, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by Angels, on February 14th, 2025. She was born Mildred Mae Manke, daughter of Adolph Manke and Ella Mae Manke (Whitinger), on July 20th,1931 at the family home in Norwalk WI. She found humor that her birth certificate was dated July 21st because the delivery doctor did not go into the office until the next day. She spent her life with the wrong real birth date.
Millie met and later married Herman Fischer while visiting her brother in Sparta, who was married to Herman's sister. They built a home in Onalaska, where they raised their family and enjoyed nature and gardening.
All of her life she was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord with all of her heart. She found strength and joy in her faith.
She had a deep love for flowers and a remarkable talent for nurturing them, filling her garden - and the lives of those around her- with beauty and color. She enjoyed cheering on her beloved Milwaukee Brewers, spending hours putting together puzzles, and watching movies. She cherished playing bingo with her friends at Mill Street Manor and sitting in her lucky chair.
She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother who loved her family dearly.
She is survived by her children; Mical Fischer, Deb (Bruce) Goebel, Sandy (Bob) Pocquette, Cheryl Fischer and Rebecca (Dennis) Habeck; Grandchildren Ben Fischer, Zach Goebel, Rachel Pocquette, Paul (Beth) Habeck, Jacob (Ande) Fischer, Matt Habeck; Great grandchildren Aislyn Fischer and Kayden Habeck, and her sister Arlene Sanford and her brother Donald Manke.
Millie filled the lives of those around her with warmth, kindness, and love. She had a contagious smile and always a kind word. She will be dearly missed, but forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21st, 2025 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, La Crosse.
