Michael P. Worman

April 6, 1958 — November 15, 2023

Michael “Mike” P. Worman passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on November 15th, 2023. He was 65 years young.

Mike was born April 6th, 1958, to Paul and Patricia (Dorsey) Worman in La Crosse, WI. He had one sibling, Susan “Sue", who he greatly enjoyed playfully tormenting his entire life. He played football and was in show choir during his school years and graduated from Central High School in 1976. After high school, Mike went up north to work as a longshoreman. A few years later he returned to the La Crosse area and went to school at UW-L for psychology and started working at Family & Children’s Center where he ended up meeting his future wife, Jane (Williams). Mike and Jane married February 25th, 1989, and had two children together, Ashley and Sarah.  Shortly after Sarah was born, Mike started his career in construction with Fowler & Hammer and proudly joined the Laborers’ International Union where he became a mason. Mike earned the nickname “Crater” after falling off scaffolding creating a huge indent in the ground but was perfectly fine. Crater was able to retire after over 20 years in construction in 2017.

Mike and Jane divorced later in life but remained close for the girls. Mike was a very involved parent and went to all of Ashley and Sarah’s sporting events and enjoyed taking them on many adventures, such as swimming, hiking, and biking. Mike also made sure that the girls had a close relationship with their grandparents and always had a Sunday dinner together until their passing. Family time was very important to Mike, and he always prioritized being together for any special occasion or holiday.

During his retirement, Mike enjoyed getting out and going to one of his favorite local bars, his red Buick could be spotted mainly at his favorite place, Schmidty’s. Mike always said he hated people but was so well known and loved by many, everyone could see through his rough and gruff exterior. He was a very kind, generous, and thoughtful person. Mike also had a slight problem with buying things from catalogs, he loved the finer things in life, and he deserved them. All his purchases now hold a special place in our family’s heart and give us so many laughs, no other family will be more prepared for a zombie apocalypse.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Patricia. He is survived by his sister, Sue; daughters Ashley and Sarah (Matt), and future grand-daughter due in February; ex-wife/close friend, Jane; his grand-dogs Zhuda “Meathead”, Zen, and River; and best friends Roy (Ann) Pasquarette and Wally (Michele) Young.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the spring for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Freedom Honor Flight (PO Box 505, La Crosse, WI 54602) or Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (1900 South Ave, FDN-001, La Crosse, WI 54601).

“Dad, I am so proud of your growth and practice of unconditional love for others.” - Ashley

“Dad, there is no one in this world I am more alike, and I would not change that for anything.” - Sarah
