Michael J. Servais

August 18, 1964 — August 5, 2024

Michael “Mike” J. Servais, age 59 of Onalaska, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, August 5, 2024. He was born August 18,1964 to Charles and Ellen Servais in La Crosse, WI. Mike attended Westby High School and after graduation met the love of his life, Paula. They were married on November 3, 1984 and spent their days raising two wonderful children, Paul and Taylor.

You would never find a more dedicated and hardworking man than Mike. He worked for 25 years for the City of Onalaska Public Works Department, 22 years at Maxwell-White Plumbing and also worked 6 years alongside his best friend, Nick Carlson, for 7 Rivers Tree Service.

When Mike wasn’t at work, you could find him in the woods or on the water. He loved the great outdoors. Hunting and fishing were his passions. But above all, Mike lived for his family and cherished every moment he spent with them. Whether it was grilling for a cookout or dancing with his wife, he made every single second memorable. Mike went by many names throughout his life including son, husband, dad, uncle, cousin, friend and Jack (to his work buddies) but his absolute favorite title was Grandpa. His grandkids, Levi and Dax, were his life, greatest blessing and filled his days with purpose and laughter.

Mike was the most generous man, had the biggest heart and was so loved by all who met him. You could always find him helping out his family, friends and neighbors with anything they needed. He dedicated his life to serving others and working hard for his family. He had the most kind and gentle soul full of so much love. There are not enough words to express the impact Mike had on our lives and how much he is loved and will be missed. Though his life was taken far too soon, he truly lived life to the fullest and made every moment count. We know that everyone who knew him will help keep his memory alive.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Paula (Marcou) Servais; Children: Paul (Kim) Servais of Holmen and Taylor (Jordan) Servais of Onalaska; Grandchildren: Levi and Dax; Parents: Charles and Ellen Servais of La Crosse; Siblings: Patty (Jerry) Johnson of Westby, Karen (Tom) Grams of La Crosse, Chuck Servais of La Crosse, and Jason (Heather) Servais of Tallahassee, FL. As well as countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents: Rudy and Louise Servais and Harry and Louise Mutch as well as his mother and father-in-law: Margaret and John Marcou.

We cannot express the amount of gratitude our family has for everyone who helped us through this ALS diagnosis and journey. We couldn't have navigated this difficult time without all of you.

A special thank you to Bill White, Carl Maxwell, Josh Maxwell and the team of Maxwell-White Plumbing, Nick and Christin Carlson of 7 Rivers Tree Service, his coworker Dan Meyer, Dr. Michael Leone, Melissa Schulze NP,  and the Gundersen Health System Neurology Team and Jennifer Thomas RN, Jessica Bumgarner NP, and the Gundersen Health System Hospice Team.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 24th from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at the home of Paul Servais (W8024 Prairie Meadows Street Holmen, WI 54636).
