Mavis A. Cooley

June 17, 1925 — June 27, 2018

Mavis A. Cooley, 93, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. She was born on June 17, 1925 to Edgar and Joy Lepley in Viola, WI. She married Irvin Cooley Jr. on September 15, 1945. Mavis lived most of her life in La Crose where she and Irv raised their family and Mavis worked as a bookkeeper for several local businesses. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and in retirement took up oil painting for which she had a natural gift.
Mavis is survived by her two sons, Steven (Joee) Cooley and Jeffrey (Diane) Cooley, her grandchildren, Jessie (Josh) Potaracke and Jon (Kristan) Cooley, and her great grandchildren, Morgan and Aaron Potaracke.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Onalaska Care center for their kindness and caring of Mavis in the last few years of her life.
A Private family burial will take place at a later date. Mavis will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
