Mary Patricia (Hickey) Westpfahl, the love of Donald H. Westpfahl’s life, was unexpectedly called from this earthly life on Feb. 24, to join her brother, sister and parents in Heaven’s promise.
Mary, 71, was born April 17, 1946, the third child of Joseph and Georgina (Graf) Hickey, and grew up in La Crosse, graduating from Aquinas High School in 1964 and WWTC in 1966. She met her husband, Don, at WWTC and they married Sept. 10, 1966. They lived in Madison, Wisconsin, and Petaluma, California, while Don served in the military.
After returning home, Mary and Don raised four sons in Onalaska. Over the years, some of her fondest memories were the many family road trips and vacations, including a long-dreamed-of trip to Ireland with Don a few years ago.
Mary was very proud of her police officer, engineer, teacher and fireman sons, her four daughters-in-law and her seven grandchildren, whom she could dote on and spoil.
Mary is preceded in death by her brother James and sister Judy. She is survived by her husband, Don; sons Erik (Jennifer Brazgel), Scott (Tara Barnett), Mark (Jennifer Selby), Cory (Mandie Kroll); and grandchildren Taylor and Rebekah (Scott), Grace, Connor and Eleanor (Mark), and Zoey and Porter (Cory).
