Mary L. Hughes

Mary L. Hughes passed on to her next life on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 after several months of illness.   She was in her 95th year of life.
Mary was born on August 15th, 1923 to the late Frank and Anna (Braun) Boerner of Marinette, WI.
Mary was a longtime resident of the La Crescent, MN. area. She had worked for many years as a seamstress for The Company Store located in La Crosse, WI. Also, Mary and her late husband Paul, had operated the Tip Top Bar and Grill in the late 60's and early 70's located in the town of Hokah, MN.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Paul C. Hughes in 1971; her sisters Marcella Petri, Doris Fedderman, and Marion Oehler and brothers Frank and Robert Boerner. She also lost her buddy, her son, James Hughes in January of 2017.
Mary is now survived by her younger brother William Boerner of Marinette, WI.; her sons, Gary (Jean) Hughes of Brownsville, MN, Jeff (Lino) Hughes of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Mark (Bonnie) Hughes of Nodine, MN, Tim (Tara) Hughes of Onalaska, WI and her daughter Lori (Tim) Jambois of La Crescent, MN.
Patrick, Paul, Philip, Kyle and Kayla also survive as her grandchildren. Jonah and Jailynn are her surviving great- grandchildren.
We will miss you greatly and you will be in our thoughts every day.
Mom did not want a funeral, just a simple cremation. Your wishes will be honored.
A gathering of family and friends will be held this summer, with a planned memorial in honor of Mom.
The family would like to especially thank Mark and Bonnie Hughes for the dedication and the care they gave our Mom during the final months of her life. Bless you both!
