Marvin A. Witt

Marvin Albert Witt of La Crescent, MN, died on October 19,2024 at the age of 87. 

Marvin was born at Grandview Hospital in La Crosse, WI on June 29, 1937. He was baptized on Nov. 14, 1937, by Pastor John C. Kauffman at South Ridge Evangelical church. Marvin graduated from Houston High School in 1955 as the highest-ranking boy in his class and received a scholarship from Council of Minnesota Colleges. He attended one year at Luther College. Over his lifetime, Marvin worked at Madison Silos, Allis Chalmers, and Norplex.

Marvin enjoyed lawn care and yard work and was known for his meticulous bookkeeping and particular aptitude for numbers. He was well known at La Crescent Health Services Nursing Home for his devout faith and he participated in Bible Study until his final days. 

Marvin is survived by his twin brother, Norman, and his nieces and nephews: LuEtt Hanson, Gary (Diedre) Rahn, Kirby (Nancy) Rahn, Kristin (Michael) Erlandsen, Eric (Shawna) Witt, Amy (Craig) Osman, Clarence (Valerie) McVey, and Tracey (Eric) Childress; and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frieda and Clarence Witt; brother Gordon; and sisters, Ruth Arnett and Donna McVey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 28, 2024, at South Ridge United Methodist Church in rural La Crescent. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Pastor Cyndy Spear will officiate. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery.
