Martin “Marty” William Zadow was born on December 31, 1932 to Linda (Sievers) and William Zadow, in Marietta MN. He left this world on June 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering patriotism. He served his country with pride and honor as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War era. While in the service, he met Mary Ann, the love of his life, to whom he was married for nearly 69 years. Marty was the epitome of a good man. He was a proud father, a treasured grandfather, and a wonderful husband.
Marty worked at Trane company as a Facilities Engineer for over 40 years, making sure everything was in the right place. He was affectionately called “Marty MacGyver” for his ability to fix almost anything. His work ethic and attention to detail were unmatched. Additionally, he farmed and remodeled a 100-year-old farmhouse making it a wonderful home for his family. He had a passion for the Vikings, classic cars, jigsaw puzzles, card games and making a mean brandy old fashioned for his beloved wife. He was a member of the La Crescent American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
Marty will be remembered by all that knew him to be a kind, fun loving, gentle man who knew no limits for his family or friends. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, four children: Randy (fiancee Renee), Jeff (Nancy), Lisa (Michael) Lynch, and Mary Beth (Dan) Sinniger. Ten grandchildren: Ryan, Josh, Erik (fiancee Lily), Elena Zadow; Zach (Megan) and Ben (Carly) Zadow; Jesse (fiancee Mara) and Jake Dickson; Rachel and Sam Sinniger; three great-grandchildren Paislee, Layla, and Maverick; one brother Gilbert Zadow, two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law Norbert Walter and Dick (Teresa) Walter, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Arlene, Delores, Joyce, one brother Gene; four brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Crucifixion in La Crescent, MN on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 at 11:00 AM with visitation before the service beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Crucifixion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Crucifixion School.
