Mark L. Nichols

August 7, 1951 — April 15, 2021

Mark L. Nichols, 69, of La Crosse, WI, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 15, 2021. He was born in Northfield, MN, on August 7, 1951 to Meryl and Lorenza (Edwardsen) Nichols.

It is meaningful that Mark died on April 15 th, tax day. Mark traveled the upper Midwest as a tax accountant for Tostrud and Temp CPAs, and made many friends in the industry.

Music was his first love. A talented guitarist and singer since his high school days, he played with bands such as the Sonic Beats and, most recently, The Craig Olson Project. He played bass guitar with them and provided the solid foundation that successful rock music needs. Mark was particularly proud of playing Moon Tunes with this band in 2019.

His family was nearest to his heart. He married Elizabeth Temte and they later divorced. He adored his children and grandchildren, and deeply grieved the loss of his stepson, Sean Brown, in 2008, and his son, Alex Nichols, in 2016.

He is survived by his sisters, Anne-Marie Nichols and Mary Lee Nichols; his children, Ashley Johnson (Jason) and Kaia Nichols; and grandchildren Chase Johnson and Kaylee Rach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Meryl and Lorenza, stepson Sean Brown, and son, Alex Nichols.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 3 until 6 P.M. at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. South.
