Our cookie jar, hearts, and Taco Tuesdays will never be the same. Surrounded by her loving family, Mom decided to leave us and meet Dad for breakfast early Sunday morning September 10, 2023.
She was born at home on the family farm, on November 14th, 1931, on a very snowy morning. Emily (Holt) and Lorris Marshall welcomed her with open arms.
She is survived by her daughters Vickie Yeiter (Dennis) and Susan Stellick (Gus Zabel). Grandsons Scott Yeiter (Sarah), Michael Yeiter (Rhonda), Ryan Stellick (Jessica Engfer). Great-grandchildren Tristina Mahlum (Scott), Anna Larson (Victoria), Emily, Alex (Brenda), Gavin and Trenton. Great-great-grandchildren Izellah (Izzy), Ava, Daxton (Dax), Rosemary and Zayveon (Zay). Sister Lorraine Hammes (Don), Brother Larry Marshall (Mary), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Harold Dewey Stinson. Parents, Emily and Loris Marshall. Brothers Loren and Ronald. Sisters-in-law Maxine King, Carol Devine, Donna Stinson, and Carol Marshall. Brothers-in-law, Richard Stinson, and Roger Devine. Son-in-law Jerry Stellick, nephew Christopher Devine, and grandson Jeffrey Stellick.
Mom spent her 71 years of marriage keeping a spotless house, baking the best chocolate chip cookies and fresh rice crispy treats, and welcoming everyone who entered her home where the coffee pot was always on.
Marjorie was an avid reader. She loved to read to children and instilled an early appreciation for books. If she was into a good book, she would read late into the night to finish it. She made sure that both her daughters had reading lights over their beds.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 19th at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery 3636 Mormon Coulee Road in La Crosse. Followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Time Out 444 N Chestnut St in La Crescent.
Our family would also like to thank the 3rd floor medical staff at Gundersen Health System and their hospice care as well as Dr. Conzemius. A very special thank you to Bonnie Paulson, mom's friend and caregiver. We couldn't have done it without you!
Memorials will be directed to the La Crescent Public Library 321 Main Street, La Crescent MN 55947 in Majorie’s name. Will be used to purchase large print and children’s books. Marjorie’s beautiful smile and perfect hair will be remembered by all. “I love you a bushel and peck and a hug around the neck.”
