Marjorie C. Johnson

Marjorie C. Johnson, age 95, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Marinuka Manor in Galesville. She was born July 10, 1921 to Ben and Margaret Olson in Mindoro. Marjorie married Wilmer Johnson on March 27, 1940 in Holmen, WI. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage together and shared the values of faith. family and friends. As a couple, they spent time playing cards with family and friends, camping, traveling, and always admiring nature. Wilmer preceded her in death on October 13, 2000.

Marjorie raised six children as a homemaker and was a talented seamstress and baker. She passed on her love of sewing and baking to many relatives who she patiently helped and taught. Marjorie always had strong faith and had been an active participant in all the various churches they belonged to throughout the years. Her greatest joys have always been her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To quote a family history written by Wilmer and Marjorie, "We have enjoyed life and the Lord has been good to us. We have loved having our grandchildren around us at all times." Many will remember her as a selfless and giving person who never uttered an unkind word to anyone.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Berg of Whitehall, Donna (Gary) Kateley of Onalaska, Nancy (Jerome) Kochek of Farmers Branch, Texas, Eileen (Don) Patterson of Marshfield, and Ann (Joe) Devine of Onalaska. Her grandchildren Lori Hoem, Wayne (Melissa) Berg, Chad (Tammy) Berg, Landis Berg, Staci Schlacke, Sara (Jeffrey) Phillips, Angela (Scott) Engebretson, Abbie (Andrew) Dittman, Erin (Ryan) Malak, Shelli Carter, Nathanael Blanchard, Isaac Blanchard, Julia Devine and Joshua Devine. She has been blessed with 24 great grandchildren and 8 great- great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Bill Sacia and Prentis Sibley and sisters-in-law Mabel Olson and Ardyce Johnson plus many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her son, Timothy and granddaughter Amy Berg. She was also preceded in death by Clara (Walter) Kreibich, Wilma (Orris) Stenberg, Michael Olson, Lorraine Sibley, Gerald (Rita) Olson, Orville (Olga) Johnson, Ethel (Knute) Bertelson, Ernest Johnson, and Gwenith Sacia.

Thank you to the very kind, caring and exceptional staff of Marinuka Manor. Also, a special thank you to the continued friendship of pastor Dan Henderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Holmen Lutheran Church, 228 Morris St., Holmen. Pastor Matt Toso will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Holmen Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army. The Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, Onalaska Chapel is assisting the family.
