Marjorie Mae Grosskopf

April 26, 1936 — October 25, 2018

Marjorie “Marge” Mae Grosskopf returned to her heavenly family, peacefully on Thursday October 25, 2018. She was 82 years old. Marge was born on April 26, 1936 in De Soto, Wis., to Stella and Charles Cox.  She grew up in Stoddard, Wisconsin in a large and loving family of seven brothers and sisters. She attended De Soto High School and was their first homecoming queen in 1955.

In 1952, she met Richard “Dick” Grosskopf while working together at Rudy’s A&W on South Avenue. Together Marge and Dick raised five children. They enjoyed dancing, camping, dining out, concerts in the park and spending time with their grandchildren. Their 62-year marriage was an example of love, respect and friendship.

Marge worked for Gillette Industries as the first manager of The Company Store.  Her warm smile and friendly attitude helped the store to grow as customers told others to visit her store. Marge’s role continued to grow as she helped launch the Bill Blass coat line. Marge traveled around the United States planning and hosting brand events and opening new stores.

In her golden years, Marge continued to travel, enjoying time with The Red Hats and dining out.  But, Marge most enjoyed spending time and playing games with her grandchildren: Louis Joseph, Chelsea Michelle, Lauren Mary, Katie Marie, Lindsey Rose, John Richard. Marge was proud of each accomplishment and goal they reached. They will miss her, but her love and laughter will always be in their hearts.

In addition to her devoted and loving husband Richard, Marge leaves behind her children, Mike and Becky Grosskopf, Linda and Louis Zahorak, Mary Asmus, and Kathy and Dewey Rothering. She also leaves her dear sisters, Ione (Frank) Wilcox and Phyllis (Neil) Maloney and brother-in-law Neal (Mary) Piek as well as her beloved grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lyle, Harley and Glen (Carol) Cox; sisters, Helen (Ole) Lutzi and Irene (Carl) Williams as well as her beloved son, Richard “Rick” Grosskopf, Jr.

Marjorie will be missed by all, but her loving and kind spirit will always be with us.
