Marion L. Pahs

Marion L. Pahs, (88), of Hatfield, Wisconsin, passed away at home on January 30, 2021. Marion was born on December 17, 1932, to Salome (Kaminsky) and Thomas Pretasky in La Crosse.

Marion graduated from Aquinas High School in 1950 and married Farrell Pahs on May 11, 1957. She worked at The Trane Company and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

She is survived by her children: one son, Jim Pahs, of Hatfield, two daughters, Sue (Kerry) Groetsch of La Crosse, and Judy (Dean) Sherry of Chippewa Falls, one very dear granddaughter, Sara Groetsch, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband (Farrell), her parents, three brothers (Jim, Tom and Ed Pretasky) and four sisters (La Verne Elliot, Charlotte Schubert, Lillian Ball and Sally Lenox).

Mom loved art in any form and painted and created many beautiful paintings and crafts as well as cooked and baked many beautiful and delicious foods in her lifetime but considered her children her greatest works of art. She was extremely proud of them and loved them dearly. The family cabin in Hatfield held a very special place in her heart and was truly her and Dad’s heaven on earth.

Mom was a strong example of faith in action and unconditional love for all who knew her but especially for her children. They felt blessed to have her for a mother and role model.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 4th, with visitation and rosary starting at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, 530 Main Street, La Crosse. Msgr. Richard Gilles will officiate with burial to be held in the Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be given for Mass intentions or to Aquinas Catholic Schools. The Mass will be livestreamed on the Cathedral’s website.
