Marian Theresa Crogan, 94 of La Crosse passed away on Thursday; December 28, 2017 at her home in Benedictine Villa. She was born October 18, 1923 in La Crosse to Harold and Theresa (Konop) Eeg and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1941. Marian then attended Coleman Vocational Business School in La Crosse. On June 7, 1947 she married Ervin Crogan at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in La Crosse and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2001.
Marian was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, later Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in La Crosse since 1957 and served as the parish secretary from 1980 until 1990. She was also a member of the parish’s New Life Choir and St. Mary’s Bell Choir. Marian had volunteered at Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center for 10 years and served as a Cub Scout den leader and Brownie leader. She also volunteered for Causeway and delivered Meals on Wheels. Marian enjoyed cooking, music, reading and was a member of many card clubs.
Marian is survived by four children; Michael (Char) Crogan of La Crosse, Stephen (Donna) Crogan of Onalaska, Joan (Mitchell) Gossman of St. Cloud, MN and Peter Crogan of La Crosse; six grandchildren, Kristin (Bill) Mann, Kathy (Nick) Foley, Grant Gossman, Connor Gossman, Jack Gossman and Madeline Gossman; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Liam and Mason Foley; a sister, Margaret Hanrahan of Onalaska, a sister-in-law; Dolores Eeg of La Crosse and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ervin she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Susan Baker; a brother, Harold “Boots” Eeg; and infant brother, George Eeg; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy (Hugh) Boschert and Rita (Elroy) Gartner and a brother-in-law, Dennis Hanrahan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday; January 5, 2018 at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston Street, La Crosse with Rev. Brian D. Konopa officiating. Entombment will follow in Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish or Benedictine Villa, 2904 East Ave. South, La Crosse.
