Margaret Catherine Haas, 95, of La Crosse, died on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Hillview Health Care Center, surrounded by her loving daughters, Paula and Sue. She was born on March 31, 1922 in La Crosse to George and Catherine (Kennedy) Sarner. Margaret attended St. James Catholic Grade School and Logan High School. She married Russell C. Haas on November 17, 1946 in Galena, IL. He preceded her in death in 2007. Margaret enjoyed golfing, fishing, making crafts with her husband, and playing cribbage with her neighbors and good friends. Her number one job was being a loving mother, and more than anything she loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula (Jim) Bantle of Onalaska, and Sue (Steve) Anderson of New Glarus, WI, six grandchildren, Rusty (Sandra) Bantle, Jenifer (Greg) Bantle-Felt, Melissa (Brian) Summerfeld, Jason (Candie) Anderson, Brian (Dallas) Anderson, and Michael (Beth) Anderson, 11 great-grandchildren, Jaymeson, Devan, Kyla, Luke, Carson, Ben, Nola, Lily, Samantha, Ayden, and Olive Mae. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son Russ in Vietnam in 1968, a daughter Mary Beth in 1978, three brothers, Ron, Jack and Bill Sarner, and a sister Mary Mitchell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston Street. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the time of services.
