Malcolm G. Clark, Sr.

March 8, 1930 — February 4, 2018

Malcolm G. Clark, Sr., 87, of La Crosse passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born on March 8, 1930 in Rushville, Illinois to Edward ‘Ghlee’ and Marie (Horton) Clark. He was a long- time resident of Astoria, Ill. He enjoyed the outdoors with many years of hunting and fishing with his friends in the Astoria area & on the Illinois River, also hunting and fishing with his friends in the La Crosse area and on the Mississippi River. He was employed many years with what was then the Central Illinois Public Service Co. He was an accomplished artist and wood carver of waterfowl and game birds, participating in national contests across the country. A member of Ducks Unlimited he donated carvings to the area Ducks Unlimited banquets. Malcolm was also a conservator and did restorative work for the La Crosse County Historical Society and the Swarthout Museum. With his love for the outdoors he was asked to be a member of the “Upper Mississippi River Advisory Committee” to make the public and Interior Dept. aware of the deterioration of pools 7, 8 & 9 and the river islands. When success was achieved he was chosen to cut the ribbon on one of the islands during the dedication of the island restorations.

He is survived by his wife Darline (Pasewaldt) Clark, a daughter Pamela and a son Malcolm, Jr. A loving husband and devoted father he will be greatly missed. Thanks for all the wonderful memories and may God bless you always.
