Lorraine F. Peterson

Lorraine Francis (Hansen) Peterson, 96 years loved, of La Crosse Wisconsin, took the hand of her Lord and Savior in heaven and passed peacefully with family by her side on Sunday April 21, 2024.

Lorraine was born July 4, 1927 in Racine, Wisconsin to Fred and Lillian (Knutson) Hansen. Lillian’s untimely death allowed Lorraine and sister Dorie to be raised by loving stepmother Barbara.

Lorraine graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1945. She married John (Jack) A. Peterson of La Crosse in 1951 and later divorced. She retired from administrative work at Hydrite Chemical of La Crosse. Lorraine had a sharp memory and recall that impressed many much younger individuals until her last days. Rainie was an avid reader, who enjoyed a great game of cards or dice accompanied by a glass of wine with family and friends.

Lorraine was the loving mother to 4 children; John and Terri Peterson of Coleville, WA, Steve and Peggy (Erickson) Peterson of Wichita, KS, Sharon (Peterson) and Dan McDonald of Port Charlotte, FL, and George and Lorie Peterson of Onalaska; 10 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren all of whom have so many fond memories of her and will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lillian Hansen, stepmother Barbara, sister and brother-in-law Dorie and Roy Boehlke.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Schumacher – Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Mark Brockberg will officiate. Burial will follow in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, La Crosse. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of service.

Special acknowledgement to the exceptional care provided to Lorraine by both Eagle Crest Communities and Benedictine Living Center of La Crosse. The compassionate, dedicated care and support was more than appreciated by Lorraine and the family.
