Lorraine "Butch" Marie Beal

Lorraine Marie “Butch” Beal, 93, of La Crosse, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. She was born on November 30, 1930 in Bangor, WI to William and Eleanor (Hansen) Clements. Lorraine graduated from Bangor High School and received her nursing degree from the St. Francis School of Nursing. She married John T. Beal on January 15, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bangor.

Lorraine had worked at St. Francis Hospital and Lutheran Hospital until her retirement at the age of 62. She volunteered at Wafer and at Hamilton Elementary School, reading to the kids. She was very active with the St. Thomas More PCCW, volunteering with the rummage sales and chicken Q’s. Lorraine also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and traveling.

She is survived by four children, Steven Beal, Paul (Mary) Beal, Richard Beal and William Beal, four grandchildren, Jacob, David, Ethan, and Ella. She was preceded in death by her husband John, a son Thomas, two grandchildren, Nicole, and Michael, two sisters, Rita Lycke and Carlene Buroker, and three brothers-in-law, Don Lycke, Dick Beal and Harry Beal, and two sisters-in-law, Mina Beal and Dolores Beal.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Memorials may be given to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish.
