It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear daughter and sister, Lisa Gates. Lisa went to meet her Savior on Sunday, November 10, 2024, surrounded by her family, after sudden GI health issues that her body could no longer handle. We rejoice that Lisa is no longer in pain and in the arms of Jesus. Lisa was born on November 17, 1960 in La Crosse to Richard and Helen (Osgood) Gates, and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Bangor. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Bangor and Luther High School in Onalaska. Her years of employment included being a consultant for Home Interiors, clerical duties at ORC Industries, Stansfield Vending and most recently Rottinghaus Company, Inc.
Lisa was a kind and thoughtful spirit who will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved her many nieces and nephews including all her great nephews and nieces. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Her warm smile and kind heart will live in our hearts forever.
Lisa enjoyed working with children and volunteered as a leader in the Lutheran Girl Pioneers and worked in the after-school program at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Lisa was an avid Brewers, Badgers and Packers fan. Her favorite player was Brett Favre. She participated in a bowling league at one time and enjoyed sending greeting cards to her friends and family. She also loved to be present at gatherings and just take in all the excitement quietly from the corner. Lisa was a kind, caring, loving and very generous woman, friend, aunt, sister and daughter who will be missed
She is survived by her parents, Richard and Helen Gates, siblings Rick (Sue) Gates, Mike (Vicky) Gates, Rebecca (John) Kroll, and Tricia (Brian) Holzhausen, and nieces and nephews, Josh Gates, Jess Gates, Holly Denu, Nicole Boyles, Virginia Loehr, Steven Gates, Michael Gates, Timothy Gates, Jamie Christensen, Kelsey Lepke, Kelly Holzhausen, Kyle Holzhausen, and Kaleb Holzhausen.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 12:30 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Onalaska. Pastor Shane Krause will officiate. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, West Salem. Friends may call at the church on Sunday, November 17 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and again on Monday from 10:30 AM until the time of services.
