Linda L. Sallander, 64, of Rockland, Wis., died on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.
Linda was born in La Crosse on November 2, 1953, to Robert and Margaret (Craig) Page. She attended La Crosse schools and later received a Bachelor’s degree in Education, with an emphasis in Special Education, from UW-La Crosse. On May 23, 1978, Linda married Edward Sallander in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on September 29, 2017.
Early in her work career, Linda worked at Chileda where she was involved in program development. She also taught on a Native American Reservation in Montana for several years. Later, she worked for the post office in Rockland for many years before retiring. In her free time, Linda loved to travel and enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and crafting, especially working with stained glass.
She is survived by her children, Beth (Wayne) Sallander-McNichols of St. Marys, Ga., and Alex Sallander of Rockland; two grandchildren, Jesicka and Trevor McNichols; a sister, Bonnie Zwiebel of Fitchburg, Wis.; a brother Randal Page of La Crosse; as well as other extended family members. In addition to her husband, Linda was also preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 21 st , at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. So., La Crosse.
