Linda J. Gegenfurtner, 79, passed away peacefully in her home on July 22, 2023. She was born on August 7, 1943, to John “Jack” and Elsie (Roberts) Tabbert. She graduated from Logan High School where she was a Majorette. She was a full-time mom that also worked various part-time jobs as a CNA in a nursing home, Blue Moon, Hardware Hank, and Kwik Trip.
Linda was a strong and sharp woman who loved her family dearly. She would always say “You’re always in my prayers, all of you!” She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, coloring and spoiling them with snacks. She also loved all animals, especially her schnauzer dogs. Some of her hobbies included bird watching, playing extreme Sudoku, and going on shopping/lunch dates. She also enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and playing guitar.
Linda is survived by her four children, Laurie (John) McKenzie, Connie (Scott) Hauser, Chris (Rob) Vieaux, and James (Heidi) Gegenfurtner; one sister, Debbie (Ron) Heller; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two nephews; two great nephews; and one great niece.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Gegenfurtner (widowed in 2014, after 53 loving years of marriage); and parents, John and Elsie Tabbert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Onalaska. Friends are welcome to join the family on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate. Interment will be held at the Onalaska Cemetery.
Linda’s family would like to send a special thanks to the Gundersen Hospice team for their wonderful care over the last weeks of her life. They would also like to thank her long-time neighbor and friend, Pat, for always being there for Mom.
