Leroy J. Strasser

August 12, 1932 — May 12, 2020

LeRoy John Strasser, age 87, died at home on his beloved farm on May 12, 2020. LeRoy was born on August 12, 1932, in La Crosse to Rudolph and Victoria (Sobkowiak) Strasser. He married Pat Schroeder on June 27, 1957 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in La Crosse. They had three sons Jeff, Steve and Todd. He farmed on his family farm and retired from Norplex after dedicating 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served proudly for the United States Army.

LeRoy lived a life full of travel and passion. He enjoyed his many trips to Laughlin, Wendover and Las Vegas, Nevada. He was an avid Packer fan and attended two Super Bowls including the winning Packer Super Bowl in 1997. He enjoyed golfing and achieved the ultimate with a “hole in one” in 2005. He was an avid card player and enjoyed many card games with his wife and close friends and most recently with the gang at Tuna’s in Genoa. He was a proud member of the Stoddard American Legion Post & Unit 315. He was honored on the Freedom Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., a trip that left LeRoy speechless. He enjoyed weekends watching Nascar races and football with his sons and family.

LeRoy was a true family man and dedicated farmer. He was a man of few words but the words he spoke always left an impact on the people surrounding him. He was a truthful man. “A dollar and a handshake” was all that was needed to secure any deal. He had a calming presence, one of which will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

LeRoy is survived by his wife of 62 years Pat; three sons, Jeff (Deb) Strasser of Stoddard, Steve Strasser of Stoddard, and Todd (Jennifer) Strasser of La Crosse, 3 grandchildren Rachel Kromke, Brad Strasser and Levi Strasser, and two great-grandchildren Preston and Georgia Kromke. LeRoy is also survived by one sister Marilyn (Chuck) Beahm of Marion, Iowa and one sister-in-law, Sharon Strasser of Black River Falls, WI; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Bernard, Ronald and Rudolph and two sisters-in-law, Marion and Delores Strasser and brother-in-law Dan Hess.
