Lee spent his childhood life in Ferryville, WI where he enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River. Lee served in the US ARMY at age 16 after which he graduated from Gays Mills High School where he made many lifetime friends. After High School Lee went on to work in many different fields including his favorite heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local 139. He also was a pilot flying fixed wing and rotary planes, tug boat pilot on the Wisconsin and Missouri Rivers, orderly at LaCrosse Hospital, displayer for Nelson Flag and currently co-owner of Lee's Home Brewing Supplies business. Lee and Janet spent 8 Winters as snowbirds in Haines City, FL where they met two very special friends, Geraldine Lehman and Fran Allen as well as many other friends. Lee's interests included NASCAR racing, Green Bay Packer games and John Deere tractors.
Lee's most recent accomplishment is the expansion of Springbrook Park across the street from where he lived. He was President of the Neighborhood Association and instrumental in renovating the park into a wonderful playground with shelter and bathroom along with a pet and handicapped friendly water fountain. It was his PRIDE and JOY. He wanted to thank the Park and Recreation Department for working with him on this project. A special thank you to Mayor Tim Kabat for helping Lee’s dream come true.
Thank you to the Gundersen Health System, especially Dr Amanda Strosahl, Dr Gregory Thompson and Dr Oettel, Michelle Valiquette, PA for the wonderful care and concern over the last few years. Also thank you to the hospice team, hospital chaplain and kind nurses.
