Laura Lou Haskell, 91, died Thursday, August 1, 2019, at Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen, Wisconsin. She was born on February 2, 1928, in Minot, North Dakota to Max Haskell and Mary Ellen (Cloone) Haskell. She married Harvey Haskell on November 14, 1947, in Minot, North Dakota.
Laura worked as a secretary for the La Crosse School District before moving to Appleton, Wisconsin with Harvey. She retired from the Appleton School District in 1985. She worked as a bailiff for Judge John Perlich and volunteered at St. Francis Hospital in the Gift Shop and, together with Harvey, worked with The Life Line Support Group upon their return to La Crosse. She loved playing bridge, dancing, board games and golf.
Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Haskell; adoptive parents, Max and Maryellen Haskell; a brother, Tom Haskell; father-in-law, Harvey Haskell; mother-in-law, Iva Vail; step mother-in law, Bertha Jo Haskell; step father-in-law, Bart Vail; brother-in-law, Don Haskell; and sister-in-law, Claire Haskell.
Laura is survived by two sons; Gregory (Char) Haskell of Onalaska, Wisconsin and Doug (Mollie) Haskell of La Crosse, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; Jennifer (Quenten) Brown, Jay (Reene) Haskell, Jake (Kelly) Haskell, and Ben (friend, Stacy Gauthier) Haskell; seven great-grandchildren; Willa Brown, Cora Brown, Moe Haskell, Paloma Haskell, Lupita Haskell, Harvey Haskell and Llewyn Haskell; as well as one sister-in-law, Marjorie Davis and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen and a special thank you to Dr. Mary Bassing for all of the care and friendship they gave to Laura during her stay there.
