La Vonne Gladys Moldenhauer

La Vonne Gladys Moldenhauer, 87, went to be with her heavenly father and join her beloved husband in heaven on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Maranuka Care Center Galesville, WI. She was born September 15, 1933 to Frank and Ruby (Radtke) Unnasch in La Crosse, WI. She lived with her parents on their family farm in New Hartford Township until she married the love of her life, Arthur Moldenhauer on May 26, 1956. Together they farmed in Rose Valley in rural La Crescent and raised three children. Their life together was a true love story.

La Vonne worked hard on the farm her whole life. She was the resident vet knowing what shots the livestock needed to stay healthy. She loved animals, (except racoons), and especially loved her beagles. She and dad got their last beagle, Jack, the spring before dad died. Jack was her connection to dad and her "best buddy". Cancer eventually won out with Jack last June and she missed him terribly. She was an avid gardener growing and canning everything. Her pickles rocked and her apple pie was the best. 10 -12 loaves of homemade bread every week and sewing and mending clothes also were part of her talents.

She loved music and played the organ at Immanuel Lutheran Church of South Ridge, MN for over 50 years. After dad died, music was her escape. La Vonne's faith was very strong. She lived and breathed it. Anyone that knew her loved her. She will be greatly missed by all.

La Vonne is survived by her son, Carl (Dorothy) Moldenhauer of rural La Crescent; two daughters, Susan Bock of Onalaska and Karen (Dave) Boardman of Onalaska; six grandchildren, Brian Moldenhauer, Jarrod (Erin) Bock, Ethan (Avri) Bock, Kelsey Bock (fiancé Joel Oxton), SFC Justin (Maddie) Boardman, Russell (Dani) Boardman; two step grandchildren, Nathan Welter and Naomi Dickenson; step-great grandchildren and step-great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her only brother, Lester (Sandra) Unnasch of Dakota, MN; many nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lorraine (Harvey) Heyer; brother-in-law, Gerhardt (Jean) Moldenhauer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 26, at Immanuel Lutheran Church on South Ridge. Pastor and nephew, John Unnasch will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
