Kenneth Duwayne Smith

Kenneth Duwayne Smith, 85, of Lakeview Health Center-West Salem and formerly of Rockland, WI passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Ken was born on July 28, 1932 in Wessington Springs, SD. He was raised in the Hokah, MN area and attended St. Peter's Catholic School. Ken married Lois Savall on August 3, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta and they were together for 56 years. From 1975 until retirement, Ken built and was president of logging, sawmill, dry kiln and trucking companies in Rockland, WI.

He loved boating, camping and hosting parties for family and friends. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his children; Don (Marie) Smith, Carol Leader, Steven, Bruce, Kathy (special friend-Chuck Thomas), 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1965, mother in 2005 and his wife in 2005.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 11 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse with Deacon Bob Zietlow officiating. Entombment will be in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum, Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
