Kenneth M. Nelson

September 28, 1942 — May 10, 2018

Kenneth M. Nelson, 75, of La Crosse, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 10, 2018.  He was born in La Crosse on September 28, 1942, to Leonard and Caroline (Schmitt) Nelson.
Throughout his life, Ken was an avid outdoor enthusiast, enjoying hunting and fishing and stock car racing. Saturdays would often find him out in the garage working on cars or whatever needed fixing. He was lovingly referred to as the “Cobble King”. Sundays would find him enjoying race day or a Packer game. He always enjoyed talking with people and sharing many stories! He was always willing to lend a hand and give advice.
Ken is survived by his children and grandchildren, Suzanne (Dwight) Reynolds of West Salem and their children, Daniel and Cassandra Reynolds, and Sandra (Michael) Weihing of Appleton, Wis., and their children, Mikaela and Caroline Weihing; a brother, Gordon (Mary) Nelson of Appleton; and a good friend, David Ganshow, who was like a son to Ken. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ken will be greatly missed by his family. “Papa Ken” will be remembered for his stories of the old days, his disbelief of how much things cost now, and long goodbyes.
