Ken L. Morton, 80, of St. Charles, MN, died on Sunday, June 24, 2018 in his home. He was born on March 23, 1938 in Thief River Falls, MN to Osval and Luella Morton. Ken served in the US Navy as a gunner on the battleship USS Leonard F. Mason. He married Marianne Fors on September 15, 1962 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. Together they raised their family in Beloit, WI. He had worked as an optician for many years before retiring. Ken was an avid stamp collector and was President of the Janesville Stamp Club. He also served as President of the Lion’s Club in Janesville. Ken was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing his four-stringed guitar and singing to his family and friends. He loved rummaging, antiquing and refinishing furniture. He was a sports TV fanatic, especially his beloved Minnesota teams. He was extremely proud of his family, especially his granddaughter and always knew that someday he would be watching her pitch on ESPN. Ken was a member and volunteer at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles, MN.
He is survived by a daughter, Kris (Scott) Nandory of Onalaska, a son David (Jennifer) Morton of Williamsburg, VA, a granddaughter Madalyn Morton, and a brother Doug (Marge) Morton. He was preceded in death by his wife Marianne in 2004, and a son Dale in 1967.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, July 1 st , 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse. Pastor Paul Walker will officiate. Committal services will take place at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.Sunday, July 1, 2018
