Keith A. Neuman, 90, of La Crescent, MN died on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born on January 7, 1928 in La Crosse, WI to Archie and Irene (Freimark) Neuman. He graduated from La Crosse Logan High School in 1945. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in WWII. He was honorably discharged on November 11, 1947 after serving on the island of Guam. Keith married the love of his life, Marjorie Tarras on May 9, 1953 in Winona, MN. After 48 years of marriage, Marge went to Heaven on July 27, 2001. Two daughters Nancy (Tim) Nelson and Jill Neuman, both of La Crescent, MN were born to this happy family.
Keith worked for 6 years at Allis-Chalmers before going to Northern Plastics (later called Norplex). He was in various supervisory positions in La Crosse and Postville, IA. He worked for 36 years before retiring in 1990. Keith was a member of the USMC Fifth Fielders FMF-PAC, American Legion Post 595 of La Crescent and the Red Wing Stoneware Collectors Society.
In addition to his daughters, Keith is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Michael Nelson of La Crescent and Sierra Colbert of La Crosse, one sister Janice Stout of Eau Claire, WI, two brothers Gordon Neuman of West Salem, WI and Robert (Mabel) Neuman of Davis, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother Ronald Neuman.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. David Momont and Sherri Reutlinger, NP at Gundersen Health System and Pastor Chris Christenson for their very special care of Keith in his final days.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 414 Main St., La Crescent. MN. Pastor Chris Christenson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 111 S. Oak St. on Wednesday from 5 – 7 PM and again at the church on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
