Katie (Jordan) Holman, 86, of La Crosse WI, died on August 6, 2022. Katie was born to Martin and Nova Jordan on August 31, 1935.
Her life journey brought her family from Raytown, MO to Edina. MN when she and her siblings were young. Katie and her family were active members of what was then the Edina Baptist church. Katie graduated from Edina Morningside High school in 1953. Katie married Russ Holman on June 18,1958. After living in Minneapolis for a few years they moved to La Crosse, WI where they would raise their family of four children and call home for the next 62 years.
Katie was an avid reader before dementia took that away. Katie and her family were active members of First Baptist Church in La Crosse. She took on many leadership roles there and expanded that leadership into the American Baptist Women of Wisconsin. She spent many years at the Green Lake Conference center at the annual ABW conference participating in the planning as well as implementation. Local Church Women United was one of Katie’s activities at one time. She attended countless sporting and music events of her four children.
Katie played Bridge with a few different clubs over the years. She also worked at Gundersen Lutheran for over twenty-five years. As a loving Grandmother she served as Treasurer of the Cool Dudes Club. Later Katie and Russ moved into the condominiums at The Landings where she coordinated morning coffees and potlucks. Family was particularly important to Katie, and she tried to keep everyone as connected as possible. The Holman Friday night pizza was legendary.
Katie is survived by her children Steve (Monica) Holman, Mary Kay (Matt) Wolf, Sharon (Orlin) Engh, Paul (Julie) Holman. She was grandmother to Kevin (Jacque) Holman, Tiffany (David) Johnson, David (Malorie) Wolf, Nicole (Mark) Schlieve, Hana Sedlmayr, Oscar (Allyson) Engh, Maureen (Jacob) Jones, Jenna Holman, Kayla Holman. Katie was blessed with 12 great grandchildren. Katie also leaves two brothers Bill (Marlys) Jordan of Wayzata, MN and Rick (Nancy) Jordan of Duluth MN.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband Russell Holman, grandchildren Elizabeth Holman Melde, Betsy Engh-Hemmersbach, and sister Bea Carlson.
Well done, Katie/Mom/Grandma/Gigi. You will be missed.
