Katherine A. Johnson

Katherine Ann Johnson, 43, of La Crosse, WI passed away on Saturday, January, 14 2023. She was born on February 6, 1979 in Cherokee, IA to Elwin and Lenora (Huisman) Johnson.

Kathie grew up outside of Hillsboro, WI and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1998. She then attended WWTC in La Crosse and received an associate degree in food preparation/service. She was employed at Java Vino in La Crosse at the time of her passing.

Survivors include her loving husband Brian Vangeertruy, her mother Lenora Johnson of Hillsboro, a brother Tim (Tonnya Zimmer) Johnson of Hillsboro, a sister Angela (Robert Oliver) Johnson of Sterling, VA, and her beloved niece Poppy. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.

Kathie was a kind-hearted soul who loved spending time with her family and friends, and she always had a special place in her heart for children. Kathie loved social gatherings and always found room in her calendar for an invitation. Kathie had a gentle sense of humor and she accepted everyone with an open mind.

Kathie was handed many obstacles in this life, but she took on every challenge without complaint and succeeded beyond every health care expert’s prediction. Kathie touched the hearts of nearly everyone she met, and the loss of her gentle and loving personality has left a huge void in her family’s world. We love and miss you, Hotdog!

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Pastors Kael and Jen Clemmerson will officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home of Friday from 4:00 PM until the time of service.
