Katam (John) C. Herlitzka

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Katam (John C.) Herlitzka 54 of La Crescent, MN. Katam died on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 and was 54 years old. He was born in La Crosse on April 20, 1964.

Katam was the oldest of six children to John E. and Mary Herlitzka. He attended La Crescent High and was a graduate of UW-La Crosse. He was a kind person, extremely smart and always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping in the Boundary waters, canoeing on the Mississippi and taking walks with his mom and her dogs. He lived a difficult life but made the best of it.

Katam is survived by his mother Mary, brother Greg Herlitzka of Minneapolis, MN, four sisters Jill (Dave) Kohut of Colorado Springs, CO, Jane (Eduardo) Fernandez of St. Petersburg, FL, Joan (Glenn) Starkey of Sacramento, CA, Kristy Herlitzka of Dresbach, MN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father John.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in La Crescent. Pastor Michael Woods will officiate. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call on the family Thursday morning at the church from 10am until the time of services.
