Judy Kay (Schlicht) Walters age 76 finished her life on this earth and entered her eternal heavenly home on April 22. She was born at Grandview Hospital in La Crosse, WI, to Edna (Wakefield) and Edwin Schlicht. Judy grew up on the family farm on Oak Ridge, rural Stoddard, WI, and attended a one-room elementary school. She graduated from De Soto High School. Judy was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Stoddard. She married Donald Walters, also at St. Matthews and they spent 56 years together. They have three children - Nancy (Tony), Marcia, and Richard (Holly) and four grandchildren - Nicholas, Jacob, William, and Sophia.
Judy is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Sharon Schlicht and Gloria (Raymond) Overson and one brother, Ronald (Angela) Schlicht, nieces Jean (Jeff) Braaten, Aliyah Schlicht, and one nephew Jeffrey Overson, and many cousins and friends.
Judy had worked at Dairyland Power Cooperative, Gateway Transportation, and retired from JC Penney. After retirement, she spent her days with her grandchildren while their parents were at work, loving and being loved and looking forward to each new day. Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Pastor Robert Wassermann will officiate. Schumacher Kish funeral home is assisting the family. Memorials can be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or School. Private family burial will be held.
