Judy E. Cobb

February 22, 1931 — January 21, 2024

Judy E. Cobb passed away peacefully on 01-21-2024 knowing she was deeply loved.

Judy was born in Washington D.C. on February 22, 1931, to Robert and Anna Raymond. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings. Judy is best remembered for her charm, smile, and keen wit. She loved dancing and she was good. As a young woman Judy and her dance partner won $500 in a jitterbug contest.

Judy had many friends over the years, but family remained most important to her. The Raymond sisters stayed connected throughout their lives; calling multiple times a day, visiting in person when they could and sending care packages to each other often.

Judy had a long successful work history. She spoke fondly of her time working at Greater Southeast Community Hospital and Hospice of Northern Virgina. She was a dedicated employee and appreciated by patients, staff, and management.

Judy was a breast cancer survivor. She shared her experience with other women in her writing titled “Look at Me…I am doing Fine.” She hoped by being open about her journey she might help others experiencing a similar diagnosis and treatment.

Judy had two pets in her lifetime; they were her babies. Choo-Choo Diamond was a Yorkshire Terrier that had no idea that she was a dog. She was pampered with baby food and the occasional McDonald’s hamburger. Sammy, a Shih Tzu, met Judy late in his and her life. He was always willing to sit in Judy’s arms while they shared a morning biscuit.

Judy lived her last year at Mulder Health Center in West Salem, Wisconsin. There she was showered with love and kindness. From the cooks and servers that always made sure she had a tasty treat, to the staff that gave her “work” babysitting puppies to the fabulous care team of nurses and assistants that met her daily needs, Judy was understood.

A special thank you to the Moment’s Hospice team. The world needs more of you!

Judy is survived by her nieces and nephews.
