Joyce Dawn Silha was born on June 29, 1937, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 14, 2021, at the Hillview Nursing Home in La Crosse, Wisconsin, at the age of 83. Her son Jeff Silha and brother Scott La Fleur were able to be with her a short time before she passed away. She was preceded in death by her husband Neal Silha of Onalaska, Wisconsin; son Keith Silha of Onalaska, Wisconsin; parents Russell and Mazie La Fleur of La Crosse, Wisconsin; and her sister Arlene Anderson from San Antonio, Texas. Joyce graduated from Logan High School and was a homemaker her entire life. She married Neal A. Silha on March 28, 1959, at Temple Baptist Church in La Crosse, Wisconsin. It was the first wedding in the new church auditorium. Joyce was a very loyal and family oriented person. She loved her family very much and was loved by her family. She was a very matter-of-fact type of person and did not joke around much, but that was more than made up for by her husband Neal. He was in trouble many times with Joyce because of it. Joyce enjoyed collecting Hallmark ornaments and Department 56 porcelain houses and Precious Moments figurines. She also enjoyed having pets and through the years had dogs, cats, a rabbit, and parakeets. She was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church and attended there regularly until health no longer allowed it. She struggled with dementia the later years of her life. She is survived her daughter Stacy Evenson of Houston, Texas; son Jeffrey (Joleen) Silha of Bancroft, Wisconsin; brother Scott La Fleur of La Crosse,Wisconsin; grandchildren Lauren (Blake) Stratton of Houston, Texas; Nathan (Paulina) Evenson of Austin, Texas; and K. J. Silha of Bancroft, Wisconsin. Schumacher Kish funeral home will be handling the burial. There will be a memorial service for her this coming Spring or Summer at Temple Baptist Church in La Crosse, Wisconsin. We would like to thank the Hillview Nursing Home for their care for Joyce these past two years.
