Joyce Carolyn Kidd

November 1, 1939 — June 5, 2021

Joyce Carolyn (Vollmer) Kidd, 81, of Holmen, passed away peacefully in her home on June 5, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 1, 1939 in Mauston, WI to Elmer and Marie (Reichardt) Vollmer. She grew up in Mauston and attended Catholic schools there. She met her future husband, Ernest, at the Oakdale Carnival when she was 17. They fell in love and married June 7, 1958 and went on to have six children. Joyce devoted all of her time and love to being a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, while Ernest worked on the railroad for Burlington Northern for over 33 years.

When her children grew up Joyce ventured out into the workforce to explore new opportunities. Over the years she ran her own daycare, worked at the Company Store as well as the Grounded Patio at Gundersen. In her free time she enjoyed trips to Mill Bluff and picnicking with family, cooking, baking, and making ceramics. She was a big animal lover, especially her pets, Fritzy, Bullet, Beefcake, Esther Pester, Teddy, and Smokey that she owned throughout the years. She had a very special bond with her bulldog Tulsa who stayed by her side. Joyce loved the “Young and the Restless”, scary movies, reading, and puzzles.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Ernest William Kidd, her parents, Elmer Oden Vollmer and Marie Francis Grassel, a brother Robert W. Reichardt and sister-in-law Dee Reichardt of Ramsey, MN and two sons, John and Gary Kidd both of La Crosse.

She is survived by a son Michael Kidd of Holmen, three daughters, Debbie Kidd Aponte of Iowa, Paula Kidd of La Crosse & Cheryl of Onalaska. Twelve grandchildren, Travis Kidd of La Crosse, Eddie (Jenny) Wiese of Holmen, Anna (Jordan) Endres of Rockland, Megan (John) Kemp of La Crosse, Tyler Wiese of Holmen, Danyelle and Joshua of Onalaska, Jacob Kidd of La Crosse, Hannah Kidd of Caledonia, MN, Jameson and Jordan Kidd of Holmen and Chloe Martin of La Crosse, six great-grandchildren, Reece and Alivia Kemp, Blake, Caleb, and Mason Kidd and Alexis Svee.
