Joyce Elaine Anthony

Joyce Elaine Anthony, 88, of La Crosse, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Gundersen Health System of La Crosse. Joyce was born in Antigo, WI on July 6, 1929 to Ruben and Verna (Brush) Marquardt. She graduated from La Crosse State Teachers College with a degree in Physical Education. Joyce married Kenneth Robert Anthony on December 27, 1947 and they had one daughter, Mary Ellen. She enjoyed being active her entire life by golfing, walking, gardening and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters. More recently, she loved to volunteer in the bookshop at the La Crosse Public Library.

Joyce is survived by her daughter; Mary Ellen (Mark) Swandby, granddaughters; Melanie (Mike) Swandby-Keller, Maria Swandby and great-grandson, Orion Anthony Keller.

Joyce is further survived by other relatives and friends and especially her wonderful neighbors.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Ken.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Rev. Peter Raj will officiate. Burial will take place in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse at a later date.
