Joseph Ray Jorgenson, 69, of rural La Crescent passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Joe was born on July 17, 1955, in La Crosse, WI to Alvin and Cleo (Morris) Jorgenson. He married Wanda Hill on October 2, 1976. Joe worked at Miller’s Scrap in Winona, MN for 37 years.
Joe had a passion for farming. He enjoyed milking cows for various local farmers over the years as well as his own herd of cattle for 10+ years. Outside of work, he loved getting together during the winter to play some 6-handed euchre with friends and deer hunting with his New Hartford hunting crew. In the summer, you would find Joe camping with family and friends, watching his kids play softball, or pulling his IH 806 tractor at Houston Hoedown. After Joe retired, his greatest passion was spending time with his grandkids, including watching them play in various sports. Joe will always be remembered as a kind-hearted and caring man. His love for his children and grandchildren (who he’d like to call ‘Grandpa’s little angels') went beyond measure.
Joe will be sadly missed by his wife and love of his life, Wanda, of 48 years; and his five children, Jeremy (Casey) Jorgenson, Chub (Kellie) Jorgenson, Bucky Jorgenson, Jolyn (Brad) Vanderzee, and Amber (Dillon) Panek; honorary son, Pudge (Cindy) Elsen; two fur children: Jaxson and Dave; nine grandchildren: Tori, Makenna, and Mattison Jorgenson; Kamryn, Quinn, and Ty Jorgenson, Kendall Beach and Grady Jorgenson; Gabrielle Vanderzee; grand dog, Reggie Panek; two brothers: Wayne Jorgenson and Gary (Polly) Jorgenson; in-laws: Kenny Krumrie, Bruce (Sherry) Hill, and Linda (Rich) Johnson; he is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Lucille Hill; granddaughter, Faith Jorgenson; sister, Ruth Krumrie; and niece, Bridget Krumrie."
