Joseph A. Hottinger, 65, of La Crosse, died on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Bethany St. Joseph Care Center. He was born on October 25, 1952 in La Crosse to Charles E. and Elizabeth M. (Schumacher) Hottinger Sr. Joe graduated from the Wisconsin School for the Visually Impaired in Janesville, WI. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1920 and served as past president of the White Cane Club in La Crosse. Joe was a life-long member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish where he was active in choir and as a reader. Joe was also an avid Badgers, Packers, Brewers and Twins fan.
He is survived by two sisters, Deborah (Cliff) Halderson of La Crosse and Julie Harris of West Bend, WI, three brothers, Charles Hottinger Jr. of Sparta, Gerald (Linda) Hottinger of Fremont, CA, and David (Kim) Hottinger of Oconomowoc, WI, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Mary, Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston Street, La Crosse. Rev. Brian D. Konopa will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse on Sunday from 3:00 – 5:00 PM with a Prayer Service beginning at 5:00 PM, and at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of services. Joe’s family would like to thank all the church friends who escorted Joe to services, and the staff at Bethany St. Joseph for their wonderful care.
