Joseph D. "Joe" Becker

Joseph “Joe” D. Becker passed away peacefully at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Joe was born on September 19, 1945 to Edward and Edna (Burns) Becker in La Crosse, WI. He was a 1964 graduate of Aquinas High School. He worked as a police officer for the La Crosse Police Department throughout his entire career. On March 8, 1980, Joe married Carol (Harris) and together they raised four children; Tom, Jerry, and Chris Becker and Tony Christoph. If you didn’t find Joe reading, smoking his pipe, chasing his grandkids with squirt guns, or cooking with Carol, you would find him up north in Hayward or the Moose Lodge, enjoying family and friends. Joe is survived by his four children, Tom (Kelly) Becker, Jerry Becker, Chris (Mike) Bakalars, and Tony (Michelle) Christoph; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Edward and Edna Becker; brothers, David, Donald, Paul, and Danny; sister, Marilyn Snow; and his dog, Lucy Schnitzel. Joe’s family would like to thank the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center Staff for taking such good care of him.
