Jon J. “Jack” Ebner, 77, of La Crosse, died on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born in La Crosse on October 10, 1940 to Jerome and Fae (Schubert) Ebner. Jack was a 1958 graduate of Central High School, and served with the US Navy in Hawaii from 1959 – 1961. He married Carol Knueppel on December 9, 1961. Jack had worked for La Crescent Concrete, Atlas Burial Vaults, and Ebner Construction. He then owned and operated Ebner Construction, Plaza 16, the Village Restaurant in La Crescent, Gas & Go in La Crescent and West Salem, and Ebner Point Orchard in La Crescent. Jack was very instrumental in the development of youth hockey in the La Crosse area, and also sponsored a national level fast-pitch softball team.
He is survived by his wife Carol, two sons, Jon (Nancy Delagrave) Ebner Jr. and Tim (Margaret O’Leary) Ebner, grandchildren, Sam (Jackie Beckett) Ebner, Joe Ebner, Jackie Ebner and Tyler Ebner, his mother Fae Ebner, a sister Jill (Randy) Schostag, and two nephews, Rick and Jake Schostag. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, and again on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Online guestbook is available at www.schumacher-kish.com .
