John W. Willingham

John W. Willingham, 93, of La Crosse, died peacefully on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Benedictine Manor in La Crosse. John was born on November 8, 1929 in La Grange, Troup County, Georgia to Charlie W. and Mildred L. (Branch) Willingham. On November 6, 1950 John was inducted into the US Army at Fort Rucker, AL and was posted to Fort McCoy. On July 12, 1952 he was united in marriage to Zona B. De Lacy. They farmed in the Retreat area before moving to La Crosse. John worked for the City of La Crosse from 1968 until his retirement. John is survived by his daughter Gladys and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his wife Zona, daughter Crystal, his parents, step-mother Cornelia, sister Hazel, and brothers Henry (Morgan) and Charles (Jack). John will be remembered as a kind and loving father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. To honor his wishes there will be no funeral service.
